I recently discovered all my old university degree

I recently discovered all my old university degree sketch books and was blown away but just how much exploration there was in my learning. Sketch book after sketch book of drawings, notes, textures, ideas and thoughts. It would go off down mad tangents and then come racing back to the initial idea that had captured my interest in the first place. So much curiosity, ideas unpicked and paths not trodden.

Flipping happily through page after page I realised these books represented how I now feel about learning and life, it's one big journey of exploration and if your passionate about it you will keep digging deeper to explore more. This is now the main focus for my own children's learning, they explore what they are passionate about and their desire to know more keeps them motivated. It's fascinating to watch them on their own journey of exploration.

I know for a lot of people right now busy home schooling their kids, home working and surviving, spending extra time following your passions seems impossible but maybe you can keep an eye out for what that passion might be. Is there something that you or your children are repeatedly drawn to? Or maybe you have already discovered your passion. The metal detector buzzed and we all jumped excite

The metal detector buzzed and we all jumped excitedly. Once my youngest had discovered it was picking up the metal on his shoes we all laughed, silence fell again and we walked on, anticipation hanging in the air. Buzz, buzz, buzz, huge excitement and daddy started digging. I don't know who had the biggest smile my youngest or my husband when they found the treasure. A very dirty £1 coin and two seconds later, another £1 coin. We were the new owners of £2 and we couldn't have been happier.

I'm thankful for 2020, it's taught me that I'm stronger than I ever imagined and that wonderful things can happen even on the darkest of days. I will always remember it as the year I took the time to find myself, discover what's important and get clarity over the life I want to lead.

On the 4th October my amazingly kind, generous and gentle dad passed away after battling with cancer and my world fell apart. So that's where I have been these last few months, at home with my family, holding on tight to the people that matter the most. Social media wasn't what I needed so I took a good break whilst I focused on finding a new way forward in a world that didn't have the same glow.

So here I am, taking a step back into reality and offering you all a big hello hug. I'll be honest I don't really have a plan for Oglee Poglee but I do have a vision of a future where creativity, curiosity and learning are considered essential to a child's life. If I can help make that vision a reality I will. It's something I've been passionate about since I was a kid. So listening to my dad and following my dreams, for now that's going to be me showing up here and sharing authentically. As for the future, well that will be whatever it will be, that's the fun bit, I get to decide with your help how to turn a dream into reality.

Beautiful Autumn, how you lift my spirit with all your colours. During lockdown we took a daily family walk and it became my favourite part of the day. I noticed how happy we all were on our walks and how we talked and laughed.

Sadly we don't manage to walk everyday now but we have made a conscious effort to get outdoors more and Wednesday is the highlight of my week when we spend a whole day outside at The Patch @thepatchathoughtfulplacetobe

Today we made our own fire lighters, build fires and cooked popcorn. My boys faces when the corn kernels began to pop, they were thrilled.

So you have probably seen me talking about Lights

So you have probably seen me talking about Lights On and you might even be wondering what that has to do with Oglee Poglee. Well, for a few years now I have been wishing for the ying to my yang. The science that backs up my beliefs about the importance of creativity and pursuing your passion as a child. Then 6 months ago Julia Black the founder of the Lights On framework entered my life and I knew I had found what I had been looking for. So I joined the Lights On Academy and embraced everything it had to offer including expert coaching, tailored support, a really friendly tribe of like minded families and a comprehensive training programme.

I'd definitely lost my mojo as a mum and a business owner but now I am positive and excited about the future. Oglee Poglee can only become bigger and better with all my new found knowledge and experience. Learning about how the brain works is definitely something everyone and especially our children should know about. Now I can help my own children and lots of other children be creative in their own way and help them use the power of their brain to jump over obstacles or negative thoughts that will get in their way.

So it turns out that tortoises are not as slow as you think! Especially when they don't want to be on the weighing scales. In one month Timmy our tortoise has put on 1gram in weight. You have never seen two boys so excited about 1gram 🤣

How was your weekend? I managed to get some quality time with a friend which was just so uplifting. I've learnt that it's so important as a home educating mama to take time out for yourself to recharge and refresh. To laugh and remember who I am so that I have energy and balance to be with the boys all week. What do you do to recharge your sense of self?
